The Angst of the No Reply Blogger

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 7 Comments »

Junior, my #1 Quilting Inspector, is very unhappy.  I woke him up out of a sound sleep, with my agitated grumbling.  OK, my loud swearing.  It seems that a number of you are "no reply bloggers"!

What, might you ask, is a no reply blogger?  Well...........

All comments made on my blog are automatically emailed to me, and if you have the correct settings in your Blogger profile, your email address comes with it, allowing me to reply directly to you via email.  If your settings aren't correct, you are a no reply blogger.  Instead of a real return email address, I get an address that says noreply-comment@blogger.com.

What the heck??
I enjoy replying to the comments made on my blog.  I can't always reply to them all, but I'm trying to spend a little time every few days replying to comments.  So if you haven't received a reply to your comments on my blog -- especially on my giveaway post -- that probably means you're a no-reply blogger.  Here's how to fix it, if you're so inclined:

In blogger.com, click on Dashboard.
  • Select Edit Profile.
  • Check the box for "Show my Email Address."
  • Save changes.
Easy peasy.  Now go fix your settings and make Junior happy.  Having a ticked off cat in my sewing room is not my idea of a good time.   And you won't like it either if you win the giveaway drawing and I can't contact you!  Yikes!

I had followed all of those instructions a few months ago and was still a no-reply Blogger. I have come to find that if i use internet explorer I still am a noreplyblogger, but if I use Google chrome then you can see my e-mail address. I had read something online about all new blogs as of March 2011 have the same problem, but everyone that had one previous to that date is okay..not sure if they were right, but the change over to chrome(just for blogging..lol) helped me :)

I hadn't thought of that!

What a beauty.

There is no loud grumbling in my house so if Junior wants quiet he can come live here. Can he share? There would be lots of companions, 2 Siamese, and 1 just plain cat.
I am taking for granted he is liter box trained.

It's funny.....I see almost weekly someone having to post on their blog about this.....sooner or later, the word will reach everyone, and we won't have to deal with it. Until then....I guess we just have to keep reminding everyone!

But getting such a cute pic of Junior is totally worth it! lol

Here's the REAL puzzler: I'm not a noreply blogger on your blog, so I have to assume that my email settings are OK. Yet there are a couple of blogs I read regularly that reject even my comments! Can't be because of email settings since they work some places.

Anybody have a suggested solution so I can be an "everywhere-commenter" and not be selectively rejected??

Forgot to mention that I love the photo of Junior! What a handsome guy! Not quite as handsome as my Mustard was, though...

There will NEVER be another cat quite as handsome as Mustard. I'm sure he's aready got quite an entourage of lady kitties at his beck and call on the other side of that Rainbow Bridge.
