Almost Wordless Wednesday

Wednesday, January 26, 2011 7 Comments »
From the front steps at 7:30 this morning, on the way to work.  Home from work by 6:30 PM, & it's pouring sleet & rain.  Starting at midnight, they are predicting another 10" dump of snow.   This is so not right.

I feel so guilty.

UPDATE: the sleet turned to heavy, wet, big-flaked snow at about 7:30 PM. Then the lightning and thunder started. No kidding.

That is such a cool looking tree (bush?). Do you know what species it is? This is a year when we have balmy temps and you folks are getting hammered.

I'm told that it is a Frnge Tree, a tree that is more common in the South than it is here. Every Mothers' Day, almost like clockwork, it blooms with these wonderfully fragrant fringy things that last about 10 days and then fall. We actually bought this house from my mother, so it is the house I grew up in. That tree has been here since my High School days. I love it.

It is a fringe tree native to Virginia. We have two and when they bloom what a glorious smell. They never get to large
I can't wait for daylight when I can see how much snow we got. It is the first heavy snow this year.

The climate is acting very strangely these days. It might be pretty to look at but enough is enough isn't it.
